Airlines recognise for their firm commitment to Bangladesh during Covid
The airlines those received the recognition are Biman Bangladesh Airlines, NOVOAIR, US-Bangla Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates airline and Air Arabia
A number of local and foreign airlines have been honored with "Friend in Need" recognition for their firm commitment to Bangladesh and its people during the Covid-19 pandemic period.
The Bangladesh Monitor, a travel and aviation publication took the initiative to recognize the invaluable support rendered by these airlines, says a press release.
The airlines those received the recognition are Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Novoair, US-Bangla Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates airline and Air Arabia.
The program was held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka yesterday while Md. Mahbub Ali MP, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism was present on the occasion as the Chief Guest and handed-over the Crest of Honor to the airlines and CAAB.
Air vice Marshal M. Mafidur Rahman, chairman, CAAB, Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor, The Bangladesh Monitor, representatives from various airlines, industry leaders and dignitaries among others attended the program.
Besides, the State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) were also recognized for their prudent and prompt initiatives in guiding the Bangladesh aviation sector to a New Normal functioning during the initial stage of the pandemic.
Following the outbreak of the unprecedented pandemic, the Bangladesh government temporarily embargoed on operations of all scheduled domestic and international flights on 22 March, 2020. However, after thorough review of the situation the Government within the shortest possible time decided to open the sky paving the way for resumption of passenger air transportation.
Presently over 25 local and foreign airlines are operating regular flights to and from Bangladesh and few others are waiting for the necessary permission from the concerned authorities.
