Moinuddin Abdullah new ACC chairman, Jahurul Haque commissioner

Former senior secretary of the agriculture ministry Md Moinuddin Abdullah has been appointed as the new chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Meanwhile, former chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Jahurul Haque has been appointed as a commissioner of the national anti-graft agency.

The cabinet division, on Wednesday, issued a gazette notification in this regard.

The term of current ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud will expire on 13 March, while its Commissioner AFM Aminul Islam's term will also end at the same time.

However, another Commissioner Md Mozammel Haque Khan will stay in office until July 2023.

Moinuddin Abdullah served in the Bangladesh Civil Service for 35 years. He started his career in the Public Administration Department in 1983 and retired from service as the senior secretary of the agriculture ministry in August 2018.

Throughout his career, he has also held many other important administrative posts, including that of secretary to the Housing and Public Works Ministry and the Industries Ministry.

He was also the director general of the Prime Minister's Office, and the divisional commissioner of Dhaka.

Moinuddin Abdullah obtained his graduate and master's degrees from the Department of Soil Science of Dhaka University. He was born in Cumilla in 1959.

Meanwhile, former BTRC chairman Jahurul Haque started his career as a sub-judge in 1983 and retired from the judicial career as a session judge in 2014.

He was born in Jamalpur district on 5 December, 1955.
