8 broad gauge railway engines reach Chattogram from USA
Unloading the engines from the ship started at the port berth on Saturday
Eight broad gauge locomotives of Bangladesh Railway (BR) have arrived at Chattogram Port from the United States.
The process of unloading the engines from the ship started at the port berth on Saturday morning.
Chief Mechanical Engineer of BR (Eastern Region) Borhan Uddin said a total of 40 broad gauge engines are being imported from the United States. Eight engines have reached in the first phase. Rest of the engines will be imported in phases.
Abdul Malek, chief yard master of the Chattogram Goods Port Yard (CGPY) of the railways, said two locomotives were unloaded from the ship on Saturday and brought to the CGPY yard. The remaining six engines will be unloaded on Sunday.
