Special child’s art project raises 1 lakh pounds for charity
250 artists from the UK, Colombia, Italy, Spain, France, Sweden, Germany, the US, and Australia collaborated with that boy on this project
Noah, a 12 years old boy from Dedham in Essex, started painting on cardboard at his home during the lockdown period.
His father posted them on Instagram asking some artists to collaborate on finishing the arts. But the fact that he has hydrocephalus, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy brought a different angle to the story making 250 artists from different countries come forward to help him as it was conducted for charity.
According to BBC, the arts were exhibited at Firstsite gallery in Colchester before being auctioned on eBay for the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity.
More than 200 paintings were auctioned and more than 80 thousand pounds were raised from there and the rest came from book sales featuring the art and donations.
Noah's father Nathan Jones said that they had hoped to raise 500 pounds from the auction but they became stunned after seeing the total amount.
"We just started this as a way to pass time, but it turned into something very special. We would like to say a massive thank you once again to all the artists involved. The money raised will make a huge difference to many families like ours," he added.
He also said it was the perfect way to thank the doctors who had played a huge part in Noah's life.
The family wants to include these arts into a book named Background Bob, according to BBC.
