Cartoonist Kishore files complaint with court
Kishore filed the complaint with Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Judge KM Emrul Kayesh
Cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore has filed a complaint with a Dhaka court, accusing unidentified persons, in connection with torture on him in jail.
Kishore filed the complaint with Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Judge KM Emrul Kayesh.
He has given a 'description of torture' in court which he suffered after being arrested in a case under the Digital Security Act.
After recording the statement, the judge said he will pass an order on the issue within a day or two.
He also said "I was tortured after being arrested. I have appealed to the court to file a case against the perpetrators in this regard."
After recording the statement, the judge said he will pass an order on the issue later, said Kishore's Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua.
After languishing in different prisons for 303 days, Kishore left Kashimpur Central Jail 2 on six-month bail on 4 March.
He was jailed in May last year in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
He secured bail days after co-accused writer Mushtaq Ahmed's death in custody on 25 February sparked countrywide protests against the DSA, under which they were detained for ten months.
