Udichi announces month-long programmes celebrating independence
Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi Thursday announced a month-long programme schedule on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of independence.
About 350 branches of Udichi across Bangladesh and abroad will showcase Pala Gaan, Baul Gaan, Gambhira, Jatra, Drama, Film Exhibition etc as per the announcement made at a press conference at the Udichi central office located in Topkhana Road in the capital.
Udichi general secretary Jamshed Anwar Tapan said a Pala Gaan event will be arranged on 13 March at the Rayerbag Martyred Intellectuals Memorial and on 14 March at Bahadur Shah Park.
He further said that on the golden jubilee of independence their nationwide programmes will express the hopes and aspirations of the people and to achieve cultural consciousness in the realisation of independence.
"We think that songs, dramas, poems, literature, paintings, films will play a huge role in making people aware and motivate in the movement for rights," he added.
Also present at the press conference were Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi Vice-president Habibul Alam, general secretaries Sangeeta Imam and Iqbalul Haque Khan and their study circle editor Bimal Majumder.
