Star Trek’s William Shatner celebrates 90th birthday with his AI version
William Shatner’s AI-generated video will answer fan questions and interact with them
Veteran actor William Shatner is celebrating his 90th birthday by creating an interactive AI-powered video.
The "Star Trek" actor partnered with tech company StoryFile to create the special AI-powered interactive conversational video so that his family and friends can interact with him for years to come, reports Entertainment Weekly.
StoryFile co-founder and CEO Heather Maio-Smith elaborated on the video saying that is "not an avatar, not a deep fake" but involves the real Shatner answering questions about his life and work.
In a statement William Shatner got philosophical about the whole AI-powered video, "This is for all my children and all my children's children and all my children's loved ones and all the loved ones of the loved ones."
Storyfile is set to launch in June 2021. The company uses a technology called "Artificially Intelligent Interactive Memories System" which helps to ensure natural language processing and other innovative technologies.
William Shatner is also part of an auction this week that includes memorabilia of Captain Kirk and Shatner's Boston Legal character Denny Crane, along with more Star Trek, Titanic and Logan's Run.
William Shatner's complete StoryFile "conversation" will be available to the public during the beginning of May.
