Youth dies after jumping off Lakshmipur court building’s roof on FB live

A young man died after jumping off the roof of a five-storey building of Lakshmipur District and Sessions Judge's Court on Facebook Live on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rakib Hossain Roman, 25, son of Nurul Islam of North Majupur area of the municipality.
Rakib was talking about various quarrels in his family after going live on Facebook.
According to police and eyewitnesses, he jumped off the roof of the court building during court proceedings. At that time, the people on the court premises rushed to the spot and informed the police.
Police later took him to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Sohel, the brother of the deceased, said Rakib used to work in his scrap shop. The brothers had an argument over a theft at the shop a few days ago.
Rakib, Sohel thinks, may have committed suicide for this reason.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna, an advocate of the Lakshmipur District and Sessions Judge's Court, said, "The door to the roof of the court building is always closed. We do not understand how the young man went to the roof. However, the real facts will be known after investigation."
Lakshmipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar) Mimtanur Rahman said, "The exact reason of the suicide is not known yet. Legal actions will be taken in this regard after investigation."
