Bangladesh Consulate General in New York observed "Genocide Day" on 25 March with due solemnity.
Officials of the consulate general observed a minute of silence in solidarity with the symbolic one-minute black-out programme across Bangladesh, said a press release.
On the occasion, messages from Bangladesh President and Prime Minister were read.

A prayer was also held for the souls of all the martyrs of the War of Independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyred members of his family and for the continued prosperity of the country.
In her speech, Consul General Sadia Faizunnesa paid deep homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and He discussed the background of "Genocide Day" in detail.
