Mohammad Ashraful was busy practicing with his team after the conclusion of the first round of the National Cricket League (NCL) when he received the bad news that he has tested positive for Covid-19.

But regardless of symptoms or not, the right-handed batsman is in isolation. He will get his second round of Covid test results on Sunday night and he is hopeful that the result will be negative.

He told The Business Standard (TBB), "The result yesterday (Saturday) came out positive. I'm now waiting for my second test result which comes out tonight (Sunday). Let's see what happens, but I don't have any symptoms of Covid. I don't have a fever and I can smell everything properly. I ate, slept and did my training as usual. I feel totally fine."
He is hopeful that the second round of tests will show him to be Covid-19 negative: "Before the first round of the NCL I tested twice for Covid and both times it came back negative. This time it came out positive but I feel just the same. I have no symptoms. I feel the test gave a false result."
Ashraful is playing for Barisal Division in the NCL this time around.
Considered the first superstar of Bangladesh cricket, the batting of Ashraful didn't impress in the first round of the country's premier four-day tournament.
In the first innings he scored 48 runs, but in the second, he was out for just one.
His team will next face Rajshahi at the BKSP ground on Monday.
His participation in the second round will depend on the test result on Sunday night.
