Covid surge leads to decreased number of NCL venues from third round
From the third round, the number of venues will be decreased to two - two grounds in the BKSP and two grounds in Cox's Bazar's Sheikh Kamal International Stadium - to host the four NCL matches at a time.
With the whole nation rocking from the rising number of Covid-19 cases over the last few days, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to bring down the number of National Cricket League (NCL) venues.
The ongoing second round of the NCL has matches are taking place in four different venues - Khulna's Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Rajshahi's Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium, Barisal's Divisional Stadium and BKSP's Ground No. 4.
But from the third round, the number of venues will be decreased to two - two grounds in the BKSP and two grounds in Cox's Bazar's Sheikh Kamal International Stadium - to host the four NCL matches at a time.

Ali Hasan, the manager of the Dhaka team confirmed the news to The Business Standard (TBS) on Wednesday: "From the third round, we will be playing the matches in two places. The two grounds in Cox's Bazar and two grounds in BKSP will be used to have the matches."
The decision comes in light of former national team captain Mohammad Ashraful testing positive for Covid-19. Following him, Akbar Ali, Nayeem Islam and Alauddin Babu have all tested positive for the virus.
The cricketers taking part in the NCL are being kept inside bio-bubbles despite some of the cricketers contracting the virus.
Ali believes that the decrease in venues will lead to stronger bio bubbles and lesser chance of anyone further contracting Covid
