Bangladesh Games to continue despite nationwide lockdown
"Since the final of many events is scheduled till April 4, the game will continue till that time," said Bashir Ahmed Mamun, chairman of the Steering Committee of the Games.
Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games, the biggest festival of sports in the country, officially began on April 1. It is scheduled to continue till April 10.
But a nationwide shutdown has been announced in the horror of coronavirus on from this Monday. This has raised doubts about whether the Bangladesh Games will continue.
However, the host, Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) said the Games will continue despite the lockdown.
"Since the final of many events is scheduled till April 4, the game will continue till that time," said Bashir Ahmed Mamun, chairman of the Steering Committee of the Games.
"The Games will continue till the official notification is issued. The games will be decided in consultation with the health ministry after the notification is issued," he added.
Bangladesh Olympic Association is running the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games in accordance with safety rules as directed by the government.
