Central bank extends tuition fee wire transfer for online study

The Bangladesh Bank has extended the permission given to Bangladeshi students, who are doing online courses at various foreign universitiesdue to Covid-19, to pay tuition fees for the next two semesters through bank transfer from Bangladesh.
The Foreign Exchange Policy Department of the Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard Monday.
The facility would be available for the next two semesters/sessions till 30 September, the circular noted.
Earlier in August 2020, the Bangladesh Bank permitted this payment for two semesters/sessions till 31 March. The initiative was appreciated by parents.
An official of the central bank seeking anonymity said many students had secured admission to foreign institutions but could not move abroad due to the pandemic.
"The facility would help them continue their studies online," he said.
