Women affairs ministry signs instruments with Home, ICT
The instruments were expected to ensure quick, enhanced and integrated services to the people
Women and children affairs ministry on Thursday inked separate memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the home ministry and the ICT division for interconnectivity of their respective telephone help lines to provide integrated services to the people.
The women affairs ministry's 109 helpline will now be integrated with the home ministry's 999 and the ICT division's 333, according to a women affairs ministry statement.
"The purposes of all these help lines are to ensure citizen services in the fastest possible time…it will be easier if we do it together," said state minister for women and children affairs Fazilatunnesa Indira while addressing the signing ceremony at a city hotel.

The instruments were expected to ensure quick, enhanced and integrated services to the people.
The 109 so far was meant for providing supports against women and children abuses alone, the 999 offered only police, fire and ambulance services and the 333 was offering helps in addressing social issues like child marriages, narcotics and information about government offices.
"Policing has changed with the development of technology. The government is working to create a police force that will be people-friendly. The agreement signed today will help render integrated services to the people," she also said.
"These call centres will work jointly to provide better services to public," said State minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak while speaking on the occasion.
ICT Division's Senior Secretary AN Ziaul Alam, IGP Dr Javed Patwary and women and children affairs ministry secretary Kamrun Nahar were present at the event.
