Khaleda shifted to CCU, breathing improves

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been shifted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka following breathing complications but later her physician said her breathing was normal.

Shamsuddin Didar, a member of the BNP chief's media wing, told The Business Standard that Khaleda was shifted to CCU around 4pm as her breathing suddenly worsened.

Another media wing official, Shairul Kabir Khan, said the health condition of Khaleda Zia was stable.

Dr Zahid Hossain, a member in the medical board that is overseeing Khaleda's treatment, last night told journalists that Khaleda was then breathing normally.

Khaleda Zia, also a former prime minister, was admitted to Evercare Hospital on 27 April on the advice of doctors.  She is being treated at Evercare Hospital under the care of cardiologist Shahabuddin Talukder. A 10-member medical board was formed for her on April 27.

She was found positive for coronavirus in the tests conducted on 11 April and later on 25 April.

The doctors said Khaleda Zia developed no symptoms like that of Covid-19. She was being treated in the general ward of the hospital.
