Order on compensation over Abrar’s death on Nov 24
The writ petition was filed on Thursday as the respondent failed to reply within the stipulated time, said the lawyer
The High Court has fixed November 24 over compensation Tk10 crore over death of Dhaka Residential Model College student Nayeemul Abrar Rahat.
A High Court bench of Justices M Inayetur Rahman and Mostafizur Rahman set the day today after hearing on a writ that sought compensation and action against Prothom Alo.
Supreme Court lawyer Faizullah Foyez presented the petition in the court.
On November 3, National daily Prothom Alo was served a legal notice seeking Tk10 crore in compensation over the death of Naimul Abrar.
The notice was issued to Prothom Alo publisher and editor, the editor of Kishor Alo. They were asked to explain the incident within three days of receiving the notice and pay the compensation to Abrar's family within seven days.
The notice also asked the secretaries of information, education and power, energy and mineral resources to ensure special security measures to avoid untoward situation during events at educational institutions in the future.

Abrar was a ninth-grader at the prominent educational institute and died after being electrocuted during an event of Kishor Alo on November 1.
