Rifat Murder: Charges to be framed against 14 juvenile accused on December 8
The court rejected the bail petition for the accused and ordered the authorities to send them to jail
A Barguna court has fixed December 8 for framing charges against the 14 juvenile accused in the Rifat Sharif murder case.
Judge Md Hafizur Rahman of the Barguna Children's Court fixed the date on Monday and ordered the authorities concerned to send the accused to jail.
"The plaintiff's side and the public prosecutor pleaded for more time to frame the charges. Therefore, the court has fixed December 8 as the date," said plaintiff's lawyer Majibul Huq Kislu.
The court rejected the bail petition for four of the accused, he added.
On Monday morning, 13 of the juvenile accused were brought to Barguna from Jashore Juvenile Development Centre. Another accused was in Barguna jail. All 14 were produced in the court on Monday.
On June 26, Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in front of his wife Ayesha Siddika Minni in broad daylight in Barguna. The incident was recorded on surveillance camera.
Police on August 1 submitted two separate charge sheets to the court in connection with the case. One of the charge sheets accused 14 juveniles of the murder while another implicated 10 adults.
