Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI) has strongly condemned the harassment suffered by Prothom Alo senior reporter and investigative journalist, Rozina Islam, and the case filed against her under the Official Secrets Act.

Rozina Islam is a professional journalist. She has received several national and international recognitions for investigative journalism. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she has exposed several incidents of corruption and irregularities in the health sector, said the press release.
MRDI considers the harassment and lawsuits Roniza faces not only a big blow to journalism but also to professionalism.
This incident involving Rozina is against freedom of the press, free journalism, and the public interest. In the age of the Right to Information Act, the case was filed under the Official Secrets Act pushing Bangladesh back to a law from British colonial times.
MRDI demands proper investigation of the incident, and those involved must be brought to justice.
