EC to decide on schedule for by-elections to vacant seats
The date of the vote will be decided on 2 June
The Election Commission (EC) has not fixed any specific date for the by-elections to vacant seats in Lakshmipur 2, Sylhet 3, Dhaka 14 and Cumilla 5 constituencies due to the extension of the ongoing lockdown. The dates will be decided on 2 June.
EC Secretary Humayun Kabir Khandaker disclosed the information after the 80th meeting of the commission held on Monday at the EC Building at Agargaon in the capital.
He said the commission has decided to hold by-elections to those vacant seats in mid-July. However, the decision will be made at the 2 June meeting.

After the 79th commission meeting was held on 19 May, the EC secretary said, "The decision of setting a date for the by-polls and local government election would be made at the commission meeting on 24 May."
