Stocks open higher on budget optimism
Rupali Insurance secured the apex position on the DSE turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited and BD Thai Aluminum
Equity indices of both the stock exchanges have inched up as investors' optimism the budget for the fiscal 2021-22, which will be placed by the Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the Parliament today at 3 pm.
In the first hour of the trading session on Thursday, DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 0.69% or 42 points to 6,061 till 11 am.
DSE turnover, however, went slightly down and stood at Tk601.98 crore in the corresponding period.
Insurance sector saw the highest price hike during the first trading hour at the prime bourse. Rupali Insurance secured the apex position on the DSE turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited and BD Thai Aluminum.
Meanwhile, DSE had 214 gainers against 83 losers, while prices of 45 scrips remained unchanged.
The benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 101 points to 17,544 till 11 am.
