AB Bank to expand agent banking network through a2i
The bank on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government’s Aspire to Innovate (a2i) programme
AB Bank Limited has decided to expand its agent banking services through Union Digital Centres (UDC) across the country, as part of its effort to ensure financial inclusion of the unbanked population and create opportunities for entrepreneurship.
The bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government's Aspire to Innovate (a2i) programme in this regard on Thursday, reads a press release.
AB Bank's president and managing director, Tarique Afzal, and Dr Md Abdul Mannan, project director (additional secretary) of a2i Programme, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations at a virtual ceremony.
Local government UDC will be affiliated as agents of AB Bank to introduce banking services for marginalised and underserved communities.
Syed Mizanur Rahman, head of Relationship Management and Agent Banking of AB Bank, and Md Tohurul Hasan, programme manager of a2i, also joined the virtual ceremony among others.
