Two departments, security services and public security, under the Home Affairs Ministry, have been allocated Tk 26,890 crore in the budget for fiscal year 2021-22.
The budget for the ministry has been bumped up by taka 2,006 crore in total, where it was previously taka 24,884 crore.
Seen individually, the public security department has been allocated taka 23,082 crore in this year's budget proposal, a step up from the previous year's revised allocation of 21,662 crore. The security services department has been allocated taka 3,808 crore, also a bump up from the previous year's revised 3,222 crore.
The Department of Public Security of the Ministry of Home Affairs includes the Bangladesh Police Department, Border Guard Bangladesh, the Coast Guard, and Ansar and Village Defense Forces.
On the other hand, the Department of Prisons, the Department of Civil Defense and Firefighting, the Department of Narcotics Control, and the Department of Immigration and Passports, are under the Department of Security Services.
