Financial Times recognizes BAT group as the ‘2021 Climate Leader’

Highlighting BAT Group's extraordinary corporate accomplishments in combating climate change, globally renowned news media The Financial Times has recognized BAT Group as one of the top 300 firms in the list of "Climate Leaders 2021", which includes more than 4,000 companies throughout Europe.
BAT Group has been ranked as one of the "Climate Leaders" for accomplishing the highest reduction in core greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in relation to revenues from 2014 and 2019.
Minimizing the negative environmental impacts, boosting climate change resistance, and safeguarding natural resources, BAT Group has successfully increased its revenues by lowering its emissions intensity. As a result, BAT Group's Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) initiatives continue to garner global attention & continue to win recognition for its ESG efforts.
BAT Group is also known for establishing ambitious climate goals, such as becoming carbon-neutral in its operations by 2030.
In 2020 alone, BAT Group achieved a 30.9% reduction in emissions from its operations, contributing to a 37.4% reduction against a 2017 baseline. In March- this year, BAT Group announced a further ambition to be carbon neutral across its value chain by 2050
Adding to the Global recognition, BAT Bangladesh has also been working relentlessly to support the Government of Bangladesh to achieve its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by deploying the longest-running private sector-driven afforestation programme which has distributed over 110 million saplings in the last 40 years. Another initiative which deployed 110 water plants which facilitates over 560,000 litres of safe drinking water to over 270,000 people in communities affected by arsenic and salinity issues. A renewable energy programme that has installed 2,591 home solar systems in remote villages in Chittagong Hill Tracts to provide renewable energy to over 15,000 people and is now venturing to apply cleaner sources of energy in sustainable agriculture.
