4 sub-committees formed to devise road safety action plan
The committees headed by four secretaries are asked to submit their reports within two months
The government has formed four sub-committees headed by four secretaries to devise an action plan for curbing road accidents, and bringing discipline on the roads and in the transport sector.
The secretaries are Abdul Malek of the Information Ministry, Nazrul Islam of the Road Transport and Highways Division, Mostafa Kamal Uddin of the Public Safety Division, and Helal Uddin Ahmed of the Local Government Division.
After a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday morning, Asaduzzaman Khan told reporters that these committees have been asked to submit their reports within two months.

The decision of forming the sub-committees was taken in the first meeting of the taskforce, which was formed on September 5 this year at the 27th meeting of National Road Safety Council.
The taskforce, consisting of 33 members, was formed to implement a 111-point recommendation put forward by a committee led by former shipping minister Shahjahan Khan.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, chief of the taskforce, told reporters that the sub-committees will prepare an action plan to curb road accidents, and bring discipline on roads and highways across the country.
