Take action over Pori Moni incident: BNP MP Harunur Rashid demands in Parliament
“Who is behind these? They are part of the mafia,” he said
BNP MP Harunur Rashid today in the Parliament demanded action against those who allegedly attempted to rape and threatened to murder film actor Pori Moni.
"Pori Moni is a renowned actor in the country. She has been a victim for four days, but is not getting justice. News on it has been published in all media," he said.
Referring to Pori Moni and Mosarat Jahan Munia, the BNP MP said, "Is there no law? What is the Ministry of Home Affairs doing? He would have been arrested and jailed if it had not been for those involved... These are undoubtedly the mafia. Before making and amending the laws, a decision has to be taken: will it be applied for the welfare of the people?"
Drawing the attention of the home minister, Harun said that the home minister wasn't in the Parliament, but action must be taken against those involved in the incident.
He made the demand while participating in a discussion on bills in Parliament today.
A case has been filed against businessman Nasiruddin Mahmud, Omi and four others with the Savar Police Station in connection with the attempt to rape and murder of actress Shamsunnahar Smrity.
She filed the case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and Penal Code 307.
