BNP leader Barrister Kayser Kamal sent to jail in adultery case
Court rejected defence pleas and send Kayser Kamal to jail
A Dhaka court on Thursday sent Law Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Barrister Kayser Kamal to jail in a case filed over adultery.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas passed the order when police produced him at court with a three-day remand plea.
The lawyer for the defence filed a plea for rejection of remand and for bail. However, the court rejected them both and ordered that he be sent to jail after the hearing. Court also rejected the police's plea for bail.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, Kayser Kamal was taken into police custody from the Panthapath area of the capital.
He was then taken to Kalabagan Police Station for primary interrogation.
A top police official, seeking anonymity, told The Business Standard that the Supreme Court lawyer was detained for interrogation over an extramarital affair.
