AL nominates Dr Pran Gopal Datta for Cumilla-7 constituency
The ruling Awami League (AL) has nominated Dr Pran Gopal Datta to vie for the Comilla-7 by-election.
The former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Dr Pran Gopal Datta has been nominated for the National Parliament Seat No 255 for Cumilla's Chandina, according to a press release issued today.
The decision was taken at a meeting, chaired by Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, of the party's parliamentary and local government election nomination board today.

The constituency was declared vacant after the death of Comilla-7 constituency AL lawmaker and former deputy speaker Ali Ashraf on July 30.
