Bangabandhu Satellite-2 to launch as scheduled: Minister Jabbar
The Posts and Telecommunications Division is also setting up the 5G network and third submarine cable on time
The government has started implementing the launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-2 on time as scheduled, according to Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.
The Posts and Telecommunications Division has also been working on setting up a 5G network and a third submarine cable on time as well, said the minister at a discussion organised by Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) at the Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Thursday.
BSCL organised the programme to mark the 2nd anniversary of the launch of private satellite TV channels on Bangabandhu Satellite-1, said a press release.

"With the launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 into space, we have not only proudly become the 57th country to launch a satellite of its own, but it is also a matter of great pride to provide uninterrupted satellite services with the technical support of local staffing for the last two years," Jabbar said.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud spoke as chief guest at the event and the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary, Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, as special guest.
Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Afzal Hossain, and Association of Television Channel Owners' President Anjan Chowdhury, joined the programme online.
BSCL Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood presided over the meeting.
Bangladesh is preparing to launch its second satellite, Bangabandhu Satellite-2, by 2023.
On 2 October 2019, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the commercial transmission of all local private television channels on the country's first communication satellite, Bangabandhu-I.
