Runner to bring eco-friendly electric vehicles to market
The automobile company is working jointly with the a2i Programme to manufacture electric vehicles
Runner Automobiles Limited is going to bring electric vehicles to the country's market.
The company is working jointly with the Access to Information (a2i) Programme of the ICT Division to manufacture eco-friendly electric vehicles, said State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Junaid Ahmed Palak.
"The Runner Group will be able to make a significant contribution to protecting the environment and the development of technology if these vehicles are produced here," he said, while visiting the manufacturing plant of Runner Automobiles in Bhaluka of Mymensingh on Thursday, says a press release.

Alongside two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicles, electric vehicles will also be manufactured at the plant by the country's first motorcycle manufacturing and exporting company.
The state minister said Runner is contributing to the economic development of the country meeting the demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly vehicles.
Palak said, "It is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dream that villages should have all the civic amenities available in cities. Runner Automobiles has been working tirelessly to that end along with the government. More than 70% of all the country's roads and highways are in rural areas and the lion's share of Bangladesh's economy is dependent on these rural roads. Now, Runner has taken an initiative to manufacture electric vehicles for the development of rural transportation."
"Keeping pace with the times, Bangladesh has now come a long way in the IT sector and the contribution of private sector companies like the Runner Group undeniable," he added.
Runner Group Chairman Hafizur Rahman Khan said, "Within a short time, we will complete all the technical trials needed to manufacture electric vehicles. Once produced, the electric vehicles will not only contribute to the technological development of the country, but decrease the environmental pollution also."
Lawmaker Monira Sultana Moni, a2i Programme Policy Advisor Anir Chowdhury, Head of Technology of a2i's i-lab, Farooq Ahmed Jewel, and former dean of Dhaka University of Engineering Technology, Engineer Mohammad Joynal Abedin, and senior officials of the Runner Group and a2i Programme, were also present on the occasion.
