90s most popular arcade games

Ah, arcade games. Back in the '90s, you could find garishly coloured, ridiculously loud arcade games beckoning players just about everywhere. '90s kids were spoiled with arcade options. but as the '90s came to a close, gamers found themselves forgetting the names of these little games that they had grown to love with interring the era of computer and TV video game. One may have forgotten the names but one cannot forget the memories associated with the arcade era in Bangladesh. Not at least with all the struggles and lies one had to tell only to play the game. But while some of the era's biggest games are fondly remembered these days, there are many smaller arcade titles that '90s players put plenty of time into that have been mostly forgotten. Here are some of the popular arcade games we can relate to:

1944: The Loop Master

1944: The Loop Master is a vertical scrolling shooter arcade game developed by Raizing and published by Capcom in 2000, on their CPS2 hardware. It is the sixth and final game in the 19XX series. The game takes place in the heated battles of 1944 during the Second World War as two super ace pilots attempts to defeat an entire army.

Defender

Defender is an arcade video game developed and released by Williams Electronics in 1981. A horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up, the game is set on an unnamed planet where the player must defeat waves of invading aliens while protecting astronauts.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, released in Japan as Cadillacs Kyouryuu Shinseiki, is a 1993 arcade game by Capcom. It is a side-scrolling beat 'em up based on the comic book series Xenozoic Tales. There are four playable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses: Jack, Hannah, Mustapha, and Mess. Being one of the most popular arcade game, in Bangladesh this game is popularly known as Mustapha.

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, also known simply as Street Fighter II, is a competitive fighting game developed by Capcom and originally released for arcade systems in 1991. It is the second instalment in the Street Fighter series of video games and the sequel to the original game, released in 1987. This game is one of the most popular game in arcade era.  

Virtua Fighter

Virtua Fighter is a fighting game created for the Sega Model 1 arcade platform by AM2, a development group within Sega, headed by Yu Suzuki. It was released in October 1993 in Japan, Europe, And UK and November 28, 1993 in North America. It is the first game in the Virtua Fighter series, and the first arcade fighting game to feature fully 3D polygon graphics.

Virtua Racing

Virtua Racing or V.R. for short, is a Formula One racing arcade game, developed by Sega AM2 and released in 1992. Virtua Racing was initially a proof-of-concept application for exercising a new 3D-graphics platform under development, the "Model 1".

The King of Fighters

The King of Fighters is a series of fighting games by SNK that began with the release of The King of Fighters '94 in 1994. The series was developed originally for SNK's Neo Geo MVS arcade hardware. The first game in the series, KOF '94, centers on a black market arms dealer named Rugal Bernstein, who hosts a well-known fighting tournament to lure worthy adversaries into his trap so that he can kill them and turn them into stone statues, adding them to his collection of defeated martial artists.

Samurai Shodown

Samurai Shodown is a competitive fighting game developed and published by SNK for their Neo Geo arcade and home platform. Released in 1993, it is the first installment in the Samurai Shodown series. In contrast to other fighting games at the time, which were set in modern times and focused primarily on hand-to-hand combat.

Tekken 3

Tekken 3 is a fighting game, the third installment in the Tekken series. It was released in arcades in March 1997, and for the PlayStation in 1998. The original arcade version of the game was released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 as part of Tekken 5's Arcade History mode.

Metal Slug

Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001, more commonly known as simply Metal Slug, It was originally released in 1996 for the Neo Geo MVS arcade platform.The player(s) must shoot constantly at a continual stream of enemies in order to reach the end of each level. At this point, the player confronts a boss, who is usually considerably larger and tougher than regular enemies. On the way through each level, the player can find numerous weapon upgrades and "Metal Slug" tanks.
