HC for fixing dengue, chikungunya test fees at private hospitals
Patients should not to be harassed in the name of extra fees.
The High Court (HC) on Thursday asked the Department of Health to take steps to fix fees of medical tests for dengue and chikungunya at private hospitals.
The court also directed the authorities to keep the fees reasonable so that people from all walks of life can avail the facility.
Patients should not to be harassed in the name of extra fees, observed the HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader in their order on a suo moto (voluntary) move following a report published in a newspaper.
The HC asked the authorities concerned to submit a report about their steps in this regard before the court by July 29.
Advocate Mostak Ahmed Chowdhury placed the news report before the HC bench.
