Voter turnout low in first 4 hours in Dhaka city polls
No polling agents for BNP-backed mayoral candidate was seen in most of the centres
The voter turnout in the ongoing Dhaka city corporation election was lower than expected in the first four hours of the polls.
In Dhanmondi, voter turnouts were very low even two hours after the polls began.
At Kathalbagan's Khan Hasan Adarsha Government Primary School's No. 295 polling centre, only 200 votes were cast against 2,108 till 12pm.
Booth No. 283 of the same centre has received only 84 votes out of 1,743 at the same time.
Only 30 votes were cast at the polling booth till 10am.
Voting has begun in different centres of the Dhaka North and South City Corporations since 8am Saturday.
No polling agents for BNP-backed mayoral candidate was seen in most of the centres.
However, presiding officers said they did not receive any applications from the BNP.
Rajdhani High School in the capital's Manik Mia Avenue has five centres.
In No. 864 centre of the school, 256 votes were cast against 2,898. And no BNP polling agent was found in this centre too.
