Truck Lagbe - reshaping the traditional hauling industry
Anayet Rashid and Mir Hossain Ekram have been involved with a fast-moving consumer goods business which requires plenty of goods to be transported on a daily basis. In 2017, while sending shipments to Jessore, they noticed that, within a week, the transportation cost had exceeded a margin of 400 percent despite the fact that the pick-up and delivery destination were the same.
Anayet and Ekram decided to do something about it.
Upon analysing this expenditure, they figured out certain factors which aided the price hike. From that, the two friends came up with a news business idea which today is "Truck Lagbe".
Truck Lagbe is an online platform working as a bridge between hauling vehicles and shippers. To fulfil the needs of transporters, wholesalers, distributors, and individuals shifting homes, this platform has all sorts of transport vehicles under its fleet; starting from 1-ton trucks to trailer trucks.
Anayet, founder and CEO, and co-founder Ekram launched the platform in 2017 with seven shareholders. Truck Lagbe now has around 8,000 trucks in their network.
Truck Lagbe's operations depend on two types of user base; customers - who hire trucks and truck drivers or owners. "With regards to the truck drivers or owners, educating them about our platform is pretty challenging", said Anayet.
Speaking of other challenges, building a firm relationship and trust between customers and drivers is another factor that needs to be dealt with, with care and expertise. As the goods being transported are valuable, Truck Lagbe has to ensure the safety and security of the products.
Drivers, on the other hand, play a very important role in the entire operation. "The drivers are the driving force of Truck Lagbe. They are our biggest stakeholders and we focus on improving their lives every day", said Anayet.
Being centred around the transport industry, Truck Lagbe has been able to attract both individuals and businesses successfully. "Keeping the targeted customers in mind our goal was to create a seamless process that could adapt to any user's need", said Anayet.
Truck Lagbe is the leading platform providing hauling services in the market. With the aim - "A simple click will move anything", the platform wants to expand to every city and port in the country. "We want to make the movement of any product seamless and efficient", said Anayet.
Truck Lagbe was the second runners up among the eight finalists selected for the finale of selection rounds of Startup World Cup 2020's Bangladesh region. They participated in the competition with the vision of expanding their operations across borders.
