99 dengue patients admitted to hospital, a single-day highest for this year
Ninety-nine dengue patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country after being infected with Aedes mosquito-borne dengue fever on Monday, which is the highest number of hospitalised dengue patients in a day this year.
Among the new patients, 74 were admitted to different hospitals in the capital and 25 outside Dhaka on Monday, of whom one died, according to a report sent from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
This year, 2,305 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals. Currently, 301 patients are receiving treatment, of whom 227 are admitted to hospitals in Dhaka.
So far 1,996 dengue patients have recovered and returned home.
This year, eight people died of dengue in the country. Five of them are from Cox's Bazar.
Due to the mosquito-borne disease, 2,305 people were admitted to health facilities across the country since January this year, of whom 1,216 or 53% were hospitalised in the 26 days of July.
A total of 737 were hospitalised in June, 163 in May, 23 in April, 20 each in February and March and 126 in January, reads DGHS data.
In 2021, 28,529 were infected with dengue and 105 died.
