French movie on Bangladeshi Chess prodigy
Fahim will hit giant screens in France on Oct 16
French movie titled ‘Fahim’, produced by famous French film director Pierre-François Martin-Laval is set to be released on big screens.
The movie is based on the life of a Bangladeshi-French junior chess champion, Fahim Mohammad and his struggle to overcome his peril as an illegal immigrant in France.
The movie is scripted from the novel “A Clandestine King” and is set to hit theatres in France on October 16.

Forced to leave his motherland at a young age, Fahim and his father’s application was rigidly denied by the French government and thus they had to live the life of an illegal immigrant.
Their fate was brutal but they were determined to change their fortune for good. Fahim’s father Nur had a strong affinity for Chess which made him train his son up in the strategies and rules of Chess.
Fahim won his first ever competition in India at a tender age of six and then went in to become a renowned face on International TV and newspapers.
The child prodigy won the coveted French National Champion at the age of 11 and became a household name in the world of Chess.
He was trained up by France’s top Chess coach Xavier Parmentier who invoked in him the dreams to pursue his raw talent in Chess.
Unfortunately for Fahim, his dreams took a dramatic turn when his mentor Xavier died of cancer on April 30, 2016.
Later on, he was trained under Xavier’s cousin, Sophie Le Callenec, who supported him to become the best.
