24 Sri Lankan fishermen detained from the Bay
Twenty-four Sri Lankan fishermen were detained in the Bay of Bengal for fishing illegally inside the maritime boundary of Bangladesh.
After arresting them along with four fishing boats, engine and other fishing materials, Bangladesh Navy officials handed them over to Patenga police station today.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Chittagong Metropolitan Police's Additional Deputy Commissioner Arefin Jewel said a case was filed against them for intruding into Bangladesh territory and fishing illegally.
