DU student rape: Court asks to submit probe report by March 16
A Dhaka court today asked the Detective Branch (DB) of police to submit the probe report by March 16 in a case filed over the rape of a Dhaka University student.
Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara passed the order as police failed to submit the report today. Cantonment Police Station General Recording Officer Sub Inspector Afsana Yasmin confirmed the matter.
The victim, a second-year student of the University of Dhaka, was picked up by a stranger after she got down from the university bus in Kurmitola area in the capital on January 5 evening and then was taken to a secret place, where she was raped and tortured.

The next day, the girl's father filed a case with Cantonment Police Station.
On January 8, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Mojnu from Dhaka's Shewra rail crossing area on Wednesday morning. Later, he was handed over to DB.
On January 16, Mojnu confessed to committing the crime. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain recorded the statement.
