JU not to adopt uniform admission test
“We will observe this year’s central admission test,” said the university pro-vice chancellor
Like four other public universities, the authorities of Jahangirnagar University have also decided not to join the uniform admission test proposed by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC).
Professor Amir Hossain, pro-vice chancellor (Admin) of the university, told The Business Standard that they would not take part in the central admission test process this year.
"We will observe this year's central admission test," he added.
An academic council meeting of the university today took the decision that it will enroll the students as per its own admission rules.
Earlier on Monday, Dhaka University and Rajshahi University declared they would not adopt the uniform admission test.
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) and Chattogram University made similar decisions earlier.
On January 23, the University Grants Commission (UGC), the statutory apex body for higher education, took the decision to hold uniform admission test at a meeting with vice-chancellors of public universities.
