Shakib joins Rangpur Riders for upcoming BPL
Shakib captained Dhaka Gladiators in the latest edition of BPL.
Shakib Al Hasan will be playing for Rangpur Riders in the upcoming BPL season. He will be returning to the side after his stint in the 2015 edition.
Shakib played for the Khulna Royal Bengals in the first season of BPL in 2012. He then moved to Dhaka Gladiators the next season. When BPL resumed after the fixing scandal, Shakib joined Rangpur Riders in 2015. In 2016, he joined Dhaka Dynamites as the captain where he took the team to glory in 2016 and ended up as Runners-up in the latest edition earlier this year.
Shakib's move to Rangpur puts a cloud of smog on current Rangpur captain Mashrafe Mortaza, as the question of whether the veteran seamer will be a part of the side or not, albeit the fact that Shakib and Mashrafe played together for Dhaka Gladiators in the 2013 edition. This will also put a question on who will be captaining Dhaka Dynamites in the upcoming season.
