Indian High Commission and IBCCI organise seminar to boost trade ties

High Commission of India (HCI), Dhaka and India Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (IBCCI) jointly organized a seminar titled "Scope of enhancing Indo-Bangla Bilateral Trade in light of Indian National Budget 2020" in capital's Hotel Westin on Tuesday.

Participation from various chambers of Commerce and Industry, think-tanks and business heads of multinational companies based in Bangladesh attended the seminar, as per a UNB agency report.

Addressing the seminar, Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das said the seminar will open up more business and trade opportunities between the two friendly countries. While speaking on the occasion President of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abdul Matlub Ahme covered wide areas of trade, business and connectivity between Bangladesh and India.

"India and Bangladesh has crossed USD10 billion mark in 2019 and as the voice of industry, IBCCI will further strive for increasing the trade figures specially exports from Bangladesh and investment from India for the year 2020," he further said 

"It will help boost India-Bangladesh trade and investment to a great extent thereby enhancing the economic benefits for both the countries," Dr Prakash Chand Saboo, Country Head of State Bank of India in his keynote presentation on the provisions of the Indian National Budget 2020-21 said.

The event also saw engaging presentations by Managing Director of Marico Bangladesh Ltd Ashish Goupal where he spoke on salient features of Bangladesh economy while Robin Kumar Das, Country Head, Mahindra & Mahindra shared his excellent experience of doing business in Bangladesh for the past few years.
