Delhi Gurudwaras open shelters for the victims of communal violence

As Delhi is ravaged by communal violence, Gurdwaras in the Indian capital have come forward to shelter victims from the riots. 

Many Gurdwaras in Delhi have opened their doors to offer shelter to victims of the violence or anyone fleeing from the mobs – regardless of religion and caste, reports the India Times. 

The Northeast region of Delhi saw violence over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Sunday, 23 February. Until now in this communal riot, 23 people lost their lives, 200 got injured and 100 vehicles were destroyed.

Shikh organizations such as Dal Kahlsa and World Sikh News have recently posted on their twitter accounts extending support for the victims and those seeking help in Delhi.

"Gurdwaras in North Delhi including in Majnoo Ka Tilla will look after people who need help tonight," said a tweet.

Novelist Nilanjana Roy shared on Tweeter that she has come across news from one part of Delhi wherein a Gurdwara has opened its door to anyone who needs shelter.

She also shared that In Seelampur, Dalits blocked the roads against mobs and sheltered their neighbours belonging to another community.

There are several accounts on social media explaining how people are extending support to each other in Delhi.
