IEDCR advises home quarantine for returnees from corona-hit countries
Returnees from the coronavirus-hit countries should quarantine themselves at home voluntarily, says IEDCR Director
To prevent the coronavirus spread in the country, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) today advised the people returning from the coronavirus-hit countries, to quarantine themselves at home voluntarily.
"Returnees from the coronavirus-stuck countries should not use the public transport, they should pick a private vehicle to reach home," IEDCR Director Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora said during a press briefing in the capital today.
Bangladesh is prepared to tackle any situation. However, the virus has spread in many countries, so we are dissuading people from travelling abroad unless it is absolutely necessary, she also said.

Earlier, IEDCR also announced to cancel all the meetings and seminars which include participants from the novel coronavirus infected countries.
"We are also dissuading people from coming to Bangladesh from the countries where the virus has spread," she further added.
Dr Meerjady Sabrina said, "We are still continuing our screening and surveillance programme, under which 87 people have been screened where no one have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus yet."
The novel coronavirus, which has killed nearly 3,000 people and infected more than 86,000 in dozens of countries, is believed to have first emerged late last year in a Wuhan market that sold wild animals.
China on Sunday reported 35 more deaths from the new coronavirus, taking the toll in the country to 2,870.
