Case filed over Buet student Fardin murder; prime accused held

A murder case has been filed over the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Fardin Noor Parash, who was found dead in Shitalakshya River on Monday (7 November), three days after going missing.

Rampura police later detained the prime accused Bushra, as named in the case document, from her residence in the capital.

Fardin's father Nur Uddin Rana filed the case with Rampura police station in the wee hours of Thursday.

The case has made one of Fardin's female friends named Bushra and several other unidentified people accused of the death of the student, who might have been murdered according to the doctor who conducted his autopsy.

Confirming the matter, Rampura police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam told TBS that the case was filed by Fardin's father around 3am in the morning.

"We are working on several clues in the case but nothing can be disclosed at the moment for the sake of investigation," he said.

Nur Uddin Rana said he has no idea who killed his son. "Neither I nor my son has harmed anyone."

Parash was a third-year student of civil engineering. On 4 November, he left home and did not return. He was also incommunicado.

Later, his father filed a general diary with the Rampura police station in this regard. Monday afternoon, the body was seen floating on the river just behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Following his autopsy on 8 November, he was buried at Delpara Central Graveyard in Narayanganj.
