India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his visit to Bangladesh on March 17 to attend Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary celebrations. This invitation to the event is not just a simple ornamental appearance of a head of state, significant bilateral agreements are be signed on this occasion.
During Modi's tour, the two countries plan to launch new regional connectivity projects that would help Bangladesh link with the broader Indo-Pacific region, reports The Economic Times.
New Delhi and Dhaka are expecting to initiate a project to enhance the navigability of waterways that serve as Bangladesh's north-south arteries of connectivity.

The two sides will launch joint initiatives to improve inland port facilities in Bangladesh for smoother connectivity in the Bay of Bengal region and subsequently the Indo-Pacific region, the People said.
India will buy LPG from Bangladesh to cut down the cost for the consumers of northeast India. These LPGs will be transported in special trucks from Chattogram port to Tripura.
This visit is also expecting to sign MoU with Bangladesh for the Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicles Agreement (MVA) to strengthen sub-regional connectivity. Earlier, Nepal gave a green signal to move forward while Bhutan is working on its internal procedure.
