Nine women receive Unsung Women Nation Builders Award
IPDC Finance Limited, the country's first ever non-banking financial institution in association with The Daily Star, awarded the 'Unsung Women Nations Builders Award 2020' to nine women for their change making contributions to the country, said a press release.
These women were awarded because of their special contributions to the country's four sectors— education, sports, humanitarian, and courageous activities.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen as the chief guest handed crest and Tk2 lakh to each of the awardees at an event recently held at a hotel in the capital.
Mominul Islam, managing director and chief executive officer of IPDC Finance Limited was present on the award giving occasion.
IPDC Finance Limited and the Daily Star have been organising this event since 2017, highlighting grassroot women and their contributions.
The women who were honored this year are— Tepari Rani, Riva Rani, Laila Begum, Kamrun Nahar Munni, Marija Rabbani Shashi, Sonu Rani Das, Kohinoor Begum, Mamtaz Mahal Baby, and Jaya Chakma.
"IPDC Finance Limited sponsors the celebration of womanhood at every stage of life. We want to recognise the outstanding contribution of grassroot women to the economy and let these women pace forward," said Mominul Islam, managing director and chief executive officer of IPDC Finance Limited.
