Keep 142 Italy returnees on mandatory quarantine: Health minister
Anyone not following the directives may face fine and even jail, the minister added
Health Minister Zahid Malek has ordered to keep the 142 Bangladeshis, who returned here from Italy this morning, on mandatory quarantine at Ashkona Hajj camp in the capital to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The health minister gave the directive to the authorities concerned, including Director General of the Department of Health Professor Abul Kalam Azad over the telephone today.
Zahid Malek also said, "Other travellers coming from any coronavirus affected countries at a later time will also be kept in mandatory quarantine."

A total of 142 Italy-returnee Bangladeshis have been quarantined at Ashkona Hajj camp after arriving home around 8am on a flight of Emirates Airlines today.
"They were found in good health after the initial test at Ashkona Hajj Camp. Their samples have been collected for further test," said Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Director Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora said at a regular press briefing in Dhaka today.
"After getting the report, we will decide whether they will be self-quarantined at home or needs institutional quarantine," she added.
