‘Stadiums can be used as hospitals for coronavirus patients’
Russel also asked returnees from abroad to follow the 14-day quarantine rule
All the stadiums, including those in Dhaka and the indoor ones, can be used as hospitals for treating coronavirus patients, said State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel.
In a statement issued from the ministry on Monday, he said, "The health department and local administrations can use all the stadiums of the country, especially the indoor ones, based on their needs to treat the coronavirus patients."
"We have already made arrangements for accommodation in the major stadiums of the country for the law enforcing agency members engaged in coronavirus prevention," said the state minister.
He said the government had taken all preparations to battle coronavirus.
"By the blessings of the Almighty and timely measures adopted by the government, coronavirus did not spread in an epidemic form in Bangladesh."
We are ready to deal with any situation, Russel said.
Urging the people to stay at home, he said, "We have sufficient food stocks in the country. No need to get panicked. Stay at home."
Russel also asked returnees from abroad to follow the 14-day quarantine rule.
He assured that his ministry and the National Sports Council will provide all types of support to prevent coronavirus.
