Process begins to execute death sentence to Bangabandhu’s killer Mazed
Acting on a tip-off a team of CTTC arrested him from Mirpur area around 3.30am on Tuesday
Formalities to execute the death sentence to Abdul Mazed – one of the killers of Bangabandhu – have already begun, said Law Minister Anisul Huq.
The minister said this on Tuesday in a video message from his residence.
Anisul Huq said he received a question if Mazed could pose risks of coronavirus spread in the jail.
"Usually, someone condemned to death is put into a solitary confinement. Abdul Mazed is a death row convict and so will be placed in a solitary confinement. So, there is no risk," he replied.
Earlier, a team of police's counter terrorism and transnational crime unit, acting on a tip-off, arrested him from Mirpur area around 3.30am on Tuesday.
In the afternoon, Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed an order to send him to jail after he was produced before the court.
