Covid-19: Police launch telemedicine service in Chattogram
If someone calls the number 01870700700, one of the nine doctors will pick it up and will then give health advice, the OC said
Kotwali police station has launched telemedicine services in Chattogram city as shutdown and social distancing for the COVID-19 have made it difficult for patients to visit their doctor.
Nine doctors who practice at Pulse Clinical Laboratory, a private diagnostic centre in the port city, are providing the health services from Tuesday night, said officer in charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin of Kotwali police station.
The doctors are Sajib Talukder, Anik Chand, Monika Dey Chand, Shobit Dutta, Kironmoy Chowdhury, Prithiraj Kar, Jewel Mahajan, Milton Sengupta and Joya Roy Chowdhury.

OC Mohammad Mohsin said many could not go to the doctor in Chattogram city as private hospitals, clinics and doctors' chambers remained closed due to the Covid-19. We launched the service to bring the doctor to the patient after the nine doctors agreed to provide treatment over the phone.
He also said if someone calls this Robi number 01870700700, one of the nine doctors will pick it up with the help of special technology. He will then give health advice.
Physician Jewel Mahajan said, "We got a lot of phone calls not only from Chittagong, but also from outside areas since we have started the telemedicine service. People who are suffering from coughing or sneezing, fever, blood pressure and diabetes are calling us to take advice."
Police had also been providing other services like delivering food to homes and taking the sick people to hospitals for treatment.
