Covid-19: Ypsa distributes relief to 1070 ship-breaking labourers
The organisation distributed relief items among labourers in various areas of Sitakunda upazila, maintaining the social distancing
Young Power in Social Action (Ypsa), a social development organisation, has distributed relief among 1070 ship-breaking labourers suffering due to the Covid-19 shutdown.
Many labourers have become unemployed since ship-breaking activities have been suspended at Sitakunda coast of Chattogram.
On April 10, the organisation distributed relief items among labourers in various areas of Sitakunda upazila, maintaining the social distancing, Ypsa officials said.

"We made a list of one thousand labourers who have become unemployed since the e shutdown and distributed relief among them on a priority basis," said Ypsa's Chief Executive Md Arifur Rahman.
Md Ali Shahin, coordinator of the relief program, said the lives of labourers are in-the miserable state as many yard owners did not pay wages due to the shutdown.
So, they distributed relief items – rice, salt, edible oil, lentils, potatoes, onions and soap – for seven days for four-member families, he added.
The organisation has been working for the rights of the ship-breaking labourers for a long time.
